The core

If you only open three things, open these:

A sample page from Start Here: The Money, Care and Survivor Map

1. Start Here: The Money, Care and Survivor Map

What matters after 65, on five pages, led by the figure most people never see: $2,424 a month is the most a single veteran's pension with Aid and Attendance pays under the current rates.

$29Included
A sample page from Aid & Attendance and Housebound

2. Aid & Attendance and Housebound

The most under-claimed benefit for older veterans and their widows, and the reason is simple — people hear “low-income pension,” look at their Social Security, and stop one step too early. VA counts what is left after it subtracts what you pay for medical care, and for anyone paying for help at home that changes everything.

$34Included
A sample page from VA Health Care After 65

3. VA Health Care After 65

There is no age limit on enrolling and no deadline to do it; a veteran walking into a clinic at 79 enrols the same way as one at 25. What you pay turns on your priority group, not on when you enrolled. How the eight groups work and where you land.

$29Included
A sample page from Disability Compensation

4. Disability Compensation

Tax-free monthly payment for an illness or injury caused or worsened by service, with no income test and no asset test. Plenty of men in their seventies and eighties are filing a first claim now because a condition was finally added to a presumptive list — starting with the Intent to File you can submit today.

$34Included
The follow-through

If you want nothing to slip afterwards, these do that:

A sample page from Survivors: What Continues

5. Survivors: What Continues

Some benefits stop the day a veteran dies and some carry on in a different form. DIC and the Survivors Pension are entirely different benefits with entirely different tests — a widow can be refused one and qualify for the other, so you apply thinking about both. Read the one-year clock first.

$34Included
A sample page from Appeals: The Three Lanes

6. Appeals: The Three Lanes

A VA “no” is a fork with three exits, and choosing right mostly comes down to one question: do you have new evidence? The wrong lane costs time. Missing the one-year deadline costs money, permanently.

$29Included
A sample page from Getting Help Without Being Robbed

7. Getting Help Without Being Robbed

Filing is free, and VA will help you develop the evidence for an initial claim at no charge. There is an entire industry built on persuading veterans otherwise, and older veterans with back pay coming are its favourite customers. Who may legally charge, who may not, and how to check.

$39Included

What readers have said

Here is what a few have said ↓

“Very good for adult children helping their parents.”

“My parents are in their 70s and I handle a lot of their paperwork. The checklists made it much easier to figure out what had already been handled and what still needed attention.”

WDWilliam Davis
“I feel much more organized now.”

“Before buying this, all of our retirement information was scattered between folders, websites, emails, and notes. We spent a weekend going through the package and now have an actual retirement binder and checklist.”

DHDonald Harris
“Much easier than searching through government websites.”

“Most of this information technically exists online, but it is spread everywhere. Having it organized in plain English, with links and worksheets, saved me hours.”

DMDeborah Martin
“Perfect for someone who feels overwhelmed.”

“There are so many retirement decisions happening at once. This gave me a step-by-step list rather than another 100-page book telling me everything that could possibly go wrong.”

RTRichard Thompson

What people ask me first…

I would not know where to start”

That is exactly what the first part is for — it starts from zero and tells you the next single thing to do.

I am not good with computers”

Everything is a PDF in large type you can print at home. Nothing to install, nothing to set up.

I have put this off for a while”

Then start with the one-page scan. It takes ten minutes and tells you whether the rest is worth your afternoon.

I should probably ask my daughter”

Hand it to them. The worksheets are built to be filled in together and the scripts are written to be read out loud.

30 days. You risk nothing.

If it does not help you, email us inside 30 days and we send back every penny. We will not ask you why. We never sell your name or your email.
